{"id":2441,"date":"2016-05-03T13:52:36","date_gmt":"2016-05-03T20:52:36","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/legacy.beaconunitarian.org\/?page_id=2441"},"modified":"2016-05-03T13:52:36","modified_gmt":"2016-05-03T20:52:36","slug":"part-time-choral-accompanistpianist","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/legacy.beaconunitarian.org\/index.php\/part-time-choral-accompanistpianist\/","title":{"rendered":"Part-time Choral Accompanist\/Pianist"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>JOB POSTING: Part-time Choral Accompanist\/Pianist \u2013 Beacon Unitarian Church, New Westminster<\/p>\n<p>Beacon Unitarian Church is looking for a part-time Pianist\/Accompanist to work with our Minister and Choir Director to provide music at our Sunday Services, starting in August.<\/p>\n<p>The Choir meets Tuesday evenings each week for 2 hours for practice and usually sings two (2) times a month at church.<\/p>\n<p>Church services are Sunday mornings 10:30 \u2013 11:30\/45 am. On Choir Sundays, the choir and accompanist warm up from 9:45 am \u2013 10:15 am. On all Sundays the pianist plays for 5 \u2013 10 minutes before and after the service. In addition, there is selected music to be played during each service.<\/p>\n<h4><u>Other duties include<\/u>:<\/h4>\n<p>Liaising with the Choir Director and\/or Minister to collect the next set of music selections in order to be prepared to play the selections at Tuesday rehearsals and Sunday services.<\/p>\n<p>Assist the Choir Director in recording vocal parts and accompaniments so they can be distributed in sufficient time for choir members to practice on their own.<\/p>\n<h4><u>Preferred Qualifications:<\/u><\/h4>\n<p>Experience in playing vocal warm-ups, read 2 part, 3 part and 4 part choral music.<\/p>\n<p>Proficiency at playing individual sections and combinations of vocal parts together, when requested by choir director<\/p>\n<p>Piano performance skills at a grade level 10 or equivalent<\/p>\n<p>Previous experience as a collaborative pianist (with choirs, singers or instruments)<\/p>\n<p>Beacon Unitarian is a liberal, welcoming community. Our congregation numbers about 45 \u2013 55 people and our choir numbers 15 \u2013 20 voices.
